Dragonflies
The Odonata group together two sub-orders:
Dragonflies ( anisoptera ) are a suborder of Odonate insects . They are characterized by large, highly developed compound eyes usually joined above the head and an elongated body. The fore and hind wings are different in shape and at rest, remain in a position perpendicular to the body.
Damselflies ( zygopters ) are distinguished from dragonflies in the strict sense, especially by their slender body and their wings generally folded when at rest.
These are very interesting subjects in macro photography because they lend themselves readily to posing!
Now it's up to you to tell them apart!
