Friends or enemies
A fter having observed the herons and cormorants, among other things, without criticizing their way of life, we noticed that during this moment of hunting, these two predators use each other. The heron hovers around the cormorants, hoping to steal a badly eaten fish.
I n out of the water, cormorant is vulnerable and his first glance is focused on the heron posted on the bank. The fishing bird uses the heron as a "control tower" when it comes out of the water. If the latter is not there, there is a danger! So quickly, you have to unfold your wings and see if the water is better elsewhere.
Finding your place is important and trying to keep it is better ...
The attack
In this period of end of drought, food is scarce. Reservoirs with still enough fish are difficult to find and the observation or waiting places are "private preserve", so the war rages and sometimes it becomes very violent! It's "Ok Coral". They come to the hands or rather to the beaks and legs. In this time of scarcity, there are no more friends.
When the heron attacks, he forgets the gestures and postures of flight. Like a bird of prey, the beak forward, to hurt. We no longer play, we defend our territory!
But the cormorants are there . They fly over them, mingle with them, hoping to impress them so that they lose their prey. We nickname them "the babacool", fear of nothing except man, of course, he is inhuman!
